The UFC adds a local fighter to the card on their first trip to Canada in 2012.

Currently making his home in Montreal, John Makdessi (9-1 ) and Anthony Njokuani (14-6) have verbally agreed to meet at the March event.

This will be the second time Makdessi has had the opportunity to perform in front of his hometown fans. His first appearance was at UFC 124 where the Canadian defeated Pat Audinwood. Most recently, Makdessi suffered the first loss of his professional career when he ran into an overweight Dennis Hallman at UFC 140 in Toronto, losing via rear naked choke.

Also coming off of a loss, Njokuani is looking to turn things around as he has been unable to string together consecutive wins since 2009. In a close battle, Njokuani faced Danny Castillo at UFC 141, but fell short in the judges’ eyes, giving the split decision win to Castillo.

UFC 145 takes place March 24 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
