Maximo Blanco has left Strikeforce’s lightweight division for the UFC’s featherweight division.

Blanco (8-3-1) came up short in his most recent outing at Strikeforce 36 against Pat Healy. Prior to that loss, Blanco was riding a six-fight win streak that included five knockouts. Even though the former lightweight lost his previous bout, UFC officials decided to sign him to compete in the 145 pound weight-class.

Prior to signing with Strikeforce, Blanco had fought for World Victory Road and Pancrase.
